Horses do not show misbehaviour, but relational experiences.

Relationship instead of control

H.E.A.R.T ™ – HorseorEmbodiedoAwareness & Regulation Training based on current scientific findings on neurobiological processes, attachment theory, trauma research, equine expressive behaviour and herd social organisation, as well as an understanding of different training methods from a nervous system perspective.

At its core, it's not about shaping the horse or controlling its behaviour, but about interacting with it in a way that makes it feel safe – and thus willing to express itself and engage in contact in the first place.

The central question is how we can be present and regulated as humans, in order to offer the horse a to create a secure framework.

This is how training becomes a genuine encounter. And how collaboration creates a connection built on trust, understanding, and mutual respect.

Working with H.E.A.R.T ™ is regardless of riding style and training method and can be integrated into any type of horse handling because it is not based on Was, but on the quality of How begins.

Trauma-informed horse training
The three pillars of H.E.A.R.T ™

The three pillars of H.E.A.R.T ™, Orientation, Choice and gradual progression do not act in isolation, but are interdependent. Only in their interplay – and through the competence of humans to embody them – does an environment emerge in which regulation becomes possible. H.E.A.R.T ™ builds directly on the work of Stephen Porges. His Polyvagal Theory describes safety as being experienced not just as the absence of danger, but as social connection.
The three principles of H.E.A.R.T ™ unfolding in interaction with the horseeffectiveness through human perception, the ability to self-regulate, and the resulting presence.

H.E.A.R.T ™ sees itself as a trauma-sensitive and lively interplay, where it's not about one acting and the other reacting. The principles of action are therefore equally important for the horse and the human and determine their mutual interaction.

FEEDBACK

„The starting point for coaching with Silke was a strong uncertainty in working with my horse. I didn't know what I could expect from him, where I should assert my will, and where I could let him have a say. This lack of clarity burdened me greatly and ultimately led me to seek support.".

Silke possesses the rare gift of being able to identify and structure individual issues with an exceptionally clear vision and an incredibly fine sense – for both humans and animals. The result is a better understanding of my horse's needs and behaviour, and truly concrete tips that can be acted upon immediately.

Today, a good year later, the problems from back then are no longer an issue. What has enriched me particularly further: Through this work, I've also got to know myself much better. The ability to question my own position, to perceive and better understand the other person, which I have developed through Silke and the work with the horses, I can now also wonderfully apply in interpersonal relationships and at work. It has brought me noticeably more confidence and a deeper self-understanding in these areas."
